According to multiple reports, India appears to be following Europe's lead in standardizing the universal charging solution for all devices, which could mean that this standard may spread to the country in the future.

The electronics industry stakeholders in the country have decided to use the standard charging method for phones, laptops, and tablets, according to a report. It may take some time before the universal charging standard in India is implemented.

There was an agreement made during a government meeting. Apple andSamsung use the same type of ports on their phones as well as on their tablets. The meeting had PC vendors in attendance.

The use of the proprietary port for Apple's phone and tablets is expected to be affected by the adoption of the newusb-c port. A portion of the tech giant's revenue comes from lightning accessories, and removing this solution from its products could hurt the business.

According to The Economic Times, the iPhone maker did not oppose the plan. It's not surprising given that Apple's VP of Marketing confirmed that the company would switch to a new type of phone for future models.

The European Parliament passed a law in June that requires device makers to include support for theusb-c cables in their products. The policy was approved a month ago. The Parliament wants to cut down on the amount of e-waste in the region.
