Cooper Kupp is expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks after having ankle surgery.

The receiver's return could be related to the Rams' chances of making the playoffs.

If Los Angeles' struggles continue, it's likely that Kupp won't play again until the 2023 season, according to the report.

The Rams travel to New Orleans to play the Saints on Sunday.

Kupp injured his ankle in the loss to the Arizona Cards. He finished the game with negative-one yards on three catches, his second game this season with less than 60 receiving yards.

Sean McVay said that Kupp would need a "tightrope" procedure on his ankle, which typically takes five to six weeks to recover from.

Thanks to everyone who has reached out and sent prayers! This is unfortunately just part of the game. Appreciate having a trusted medical team around me. Gonna get this thing fixed, then get back to work to get back to work!

If the Rams don't make the playoffs, he won't be able to return from his injury until later in the season.

The wideout's production over the past two years has devastated both the Rams and fantasy football teams.

After leading the Rams to a title, the 29-year-old won Super Bowl Most Valuable Player. Through nine games, he had 75 catches for 912 yards and six touchdown, ranking him in the top five in each category.

Los Angeles will need to rely on other people.
