At the time of publishing, Trump had 9.2 million followers, down from 88 million before his ban.
While Trump is yet to acknowledge the reinstatement, earlier on Saturday he shared Musk's poll on his Truth Social platform and wrote "Vote now with positive vibes, but don't worry, we aren't going anywhere." The truth social is special.
Less than a week after he announced his presidential run, Trump was back on the social networking site.
The CEO of the Anti Defamation League criticized Musk for restoring Trump's account after a brief poll. He didn't show any indication that he would change anything if given the chance. Musk replied by saying "Hey stop defaming me!"
The restoration of Trump's account is the latest U-Turn by Musk. Musk promised to set up a moderation council with "widely diverse viewpoints" which would advise the company on content decisions. The ADL's Greenblatt was one of the civil society leaders that Musk conversed with.
All eyes will be on the former president after his account was restored. He wants to stay on his own Truth Social platform, so he doesn't want to go back to TWo. The former president has 4.58 million followers on Truth Social, which is less than his peak of 88 million on the social networking site. According to SensorTower, the Truth Social app was downloaded 100,000 times from the App Store in October. Despite his promises to remain on Truth Social, the chance to engage with a larger audience may prove too difficult to resist.
The restoration of Trump's account does not come as a surprise, as Musk had previously said the ban was morally wrong. While the deal was being negotiated, Musk sent a text to the former CEO of the company that said he intended to restore all accounts that had been permanently banned. The billionaire wants to turn the micro-messaging service into a "free speech" haven. On the same day, Musk restored the banned accounts of comedians Kathie and Jordan.
A total of 134 million dollars. The number of people who viewed the poll to restore Donald Trump's account is claimed to be. If the numbers are correct, it would mean that more than half of the active users engaged with the polls.
Digital World Acquisition Corp., the blank check company that has agreed to acquire Truth Social and take it public, saw its share price plummet after Trump regained his account.
Most of the people who voted in Musk's poll want the ex-president back on the platform.
