Since a pro-Trump mob attacked the U.S. Capitol in January, Donald Trump has not been allowed to use the social media site.

Musk held a poll on the subject of whether or not to restore Trump's account. The vote was 51.8% in favor of the proposal.

People have spoken. Trump will be allowed to return to work. Musk used a Latin phrase that means "the voice of the people, the voice of God."

After his account appeared to have been suspended, it reappeared on the platform with more than 59,000 of his previous messages. His followers were gone at the beginning.

It's not clear if Trump would return to the social networking site. Trump has said in the past that he wouldn't rejoin even if his account was restored. He launched his own small social media site, Truth Social, after he was blocked from the micro-messaging service.

On Saturday, during a video speech to a Republican Jewish group meeting in Las Vegas, Trump said that he was aware of Musk's poll but that he saw a lot of problems at the social networking site.

We're getting a big vote to go back on the social networking site. Trump said that he didn't see it because he didn't see any reason for it. He said that it may or may not make it.

The prospect of restoring Trump's presence to the platform follows Musk's purchase last month ofTwitter, which has fanned widespread concern that the billionaire owner will allow purveyors of lies and misinformation to flourish on the site. Musk believes that there has been a restriction on freewheeling speech on social media.

His attempts to change the site have been chaotic. Many of the company's full-time workers and contractors have been fired by Musk. Hundreds of software engineers resigned due to his demand that remaining employees pledge to extremely hardcore work.

In the aftermath of the mass layoffs and worker exodus, users have reported seeing more scam artists on their feeds, as well as other problems. Some people who were fired or resigned this week warned that the social network could crash.

Musk's online survey, which ran for 24 hours before ending on Saturday evening, ended with more than 15 million votes in favor of restoring Trump's account. Four days ago, Trump announced his candidacy for the presidency.

The former president had exhorted his supporters to "fight like hell" after the Capitol storming. The company dropped his account after Trump wrote a pair of messages that it said cast further doubts on the legitimacy of the election.

In the wake of the Jan. 6 attack, Trump was kicked off of social media platforms. His ability to post videos to his channel was stopped. The suspension of Trump's account is going to be reconsidered.

Major social media platforms sought to balance the public's interest in hearing from public officials with worries about misinformation, bigotry, harassment and incitement of violence when President Donald Trump used social media.

In a speech at an auto conference in May, Musk said that the ban of Trump was immoral and foolish.

The company wouldn't allow anyone who had been kicked off the site to return until it had established procedures for how to do so, according to Musk.

On Friday, Musk said that the suspended accounts for the comedian, the Canadian psychologist, and the conservative Christian news satire website had been restored. A decision on Trump has not been made. When someone asked him to restore Alex Jones' account, he replied "no"

The company's new content policy is "freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach" according to the CEO.

He said that users who specifically searched for it would be the only ones who could see it on the site. It would bedemonetized so no ads or other revenue could be made by the company.

That's right.

The yes vote was 51.8% instead of 51.2%.
