Why the Bills get a 'massive advantage' with game moved to Detroit (1:05)

The move of the Cleveland and Buffalo games to Detroit affects both teams. Affirmative.

3:19 PM ET

It took an all-hands-on-deck effort to get the Bills out of their homes and to the facility for their flight to Detroit.

The players received assistance from their neighbors.

The team left the airport around 4 pm after arriving at the facility. The game is at 1 p.m.

The game wouldn't divert resources from the community so the site was moved to Detroit.

The area around the stadium received over 77 inches of snow. The Bills did not practice on Friday.

Fans helped players leave their homes. The driveway of the tight end was cleared. Reggie asked if anyone had a monster truck and could pick him up. The fans went to Spencer Brown's house to use the snowblowers. Fans came to the house of the tight end with shovels. The players went to the facility together.

There were a few players who were without power.

If the snow slows down, we'll have to move some things back in the morning. It's supposed to slow down early tomorrow morning around the stadium here and in Orchard Park, and then give the guys time to dig out, make sure their families are okay, and then we'll head into the game.

The team might have left before the storm started if the game had been moved earlier. The team decided not to change their routine.

The plan is to return after Sunday's game and spend a few days at the facility before heading back to Detroit to face the Lions on Thanksgiving.

"Sean does a great job of communicating with our guys," Beane said. It will be a football game. It's the same thing. The flight is a short one. We want to keep it as normal as possible. Is it a bit of a problem? I agree. Our guys are good. They're aware of it.

The Bills didn't have enough players to practice because of injury and illness, so they held more individual periods than usual. The team expects to get back players with only one still holding an injury designation.

After the decision was made to move the game, the team held another walk-through outside.

The decision to move the game to Detroit has a lot to do with safety. For the last 48 to 72 hours, safety has been the focus.
