Since the acquisition of the social media platform by Musk, the company has made sweeping cuts to its workforce. Following the completion of the deal, Musk immediately began to lay off employees. More than 3,700 jobs have been cut in the last month.

The New York Times reported that more employees resigned on Thursday. The payroll department and other financial employees left in a mass exodus after Musk asked employees to commit to an "EXTREMELY hardcore" Twitter 2.0 or quit.

Employees have described chaotic working conditions, including laid off workers being asked to return to the office, 84 hour weeks, and some employees sleeping on the office floor. After a public disagreement with Musk, one employee was fired and contractors were told their work had ended with less than 24 hours' notice.

One worker told Jyoti Mann that it's not appropriate to treat employees like this.

Insider's requests for comment were not responded to by Musk or the representatives for the micro-messaging service.
