A Republican "looney-bin caucus" would cause chaos in the House next year, according to a conservative attorney.

Eugene Robinson, a columnist for the Washington Post, referred to a bunch of election deniers among the incoming Republicans on MSNBC. The president's son, Hunter Biden, was one of the people who hogged microphones over the weekend.

The same lawmakers will have to vote for Kevin McCarthy to become House speaker.

It is predicted that the members of the House will be driven to constantly up the stakes as they jockey for attention in an increasingly crowded field.

In districts that are purely red, thelooney-bin caucus has to cater to the MAGA base in order to win reelection. They want to impeach Joe Biden and they want to talk about Hunter Biden on Fox News. He said that they will see that as they all compete for prominence, which will lead to reelection.

Robinson wasn't sure if McCarthy would temper his overtures to the Republicans once he became speaker. He needs to court votes to get the nomination.

He is still trying to get the speaker position. He needs 218 votes on the floor to be speaker, and he has to get them from the Republicans in the caucus.

If you didn't know Kevin McCarthy, you can take an optimistic reading that he's playing to them now and that maybe when he becomes speaker things will change. I don't think it's going to change.
