Former President Donald Trump tweeted classified satellite imagery in 2019

A satellite image of a failed rocket launch in Iran was posted on Donald Trump's social media accounts. A rocket exploded on a launch pad after a failed attempt to launch a satellite The image was published to show that the U.S. was not involved.

The United States of America was not involved in the catastrophic accident during final launch preparations for the Safir SLV launch in Iran. I wish Iran good luck in figuring out what happened at site one.

Some experts thought the image wasn't taken by satellite at all. Jeffrey Lewis, who studies satellite imagery at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, toldNPR that the picture is exquisite. I thought it must have been taken by a flying object.

NPR obtained the original image from the NGA. The image was reviewed by the Pentagon to make sure it could be shared with the public. Several details are blacked out.

Steven Aftergood is a specialist in secrecy and classification at the Federation of American Scientists.

Aftergood said that he was getting a bird's eye view of some of the most sensitive US intel on Iran. He wanted to blurt it out over the social networking site.

When the image was first posted, it was determined that the photo was taken by a classified space craft called USA 224. Unlike the Hubble Telescope, the spaceship doesn't look at the stars but at the Earth's surface.

Last year, according to reports by Yahoo! The satellite image was shown to Trump during the daily intelligence briefings. Yahoo reported that a former Trump administration official said that Trump asked if he could keep the photo. He was told he could go ahead and do it. The image was sent out by Trump about an hour later.

According to Aftergood, if one of the other countries had released a similar image, the U.S. would have formed a task force to find out what the information was.

Less than a week ago, Trump formally announced his bid to run for president. The announcement made him immune to fact-checking on Facebook. It is not known if he will continue to post on Truth Social or if he will go back to his old place of residence.

Those following along will not be surprised by the news of the posting of classified photos. The former president had a penchant for classified information. The FBI seized a lot of documents from his estate.
