According to a report in Variety, the co- creator of Sonic the Hedgehog was arrested by the Special Investigation Department of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office for allegedly trading on inside information.

Naka Yuji, along with two other former employees of Square Enix, were arrested on charges of trading on inside information.

Square Enix and Aiming are involved in a scandal. There was a joint venture between the two companies between December and December 2020.

Yuji and associates were able to purchase 10,000 shares of Aiming stock for $20,000 before the public announcement. The illegal trading scheme is in violation of the financial instruments and exchange law.

It was not known if any of the arrested sold their stock.

Who is Yugi Naka?

He is a cult figure in Japan. He co-created Sonic the Hedgehog while he was working for the company. "Super Mario" was a game series created by Nintendo.

Naka didn't feel he got the proper credit for his contribution to the company's financial success. After leaving the parent company, he joined the American Sonic Technical Institute, where he developed a new version of the game.

In 2006 Naka launched his game company Prope, which made games for the Nintendo Wii. After being removed as the director of the game "Balan Wonderworld," he left the company.
