The US version of the Ioniq 6 electric sedan was revealed at the Los Angeles auto show. The rear-wheel-drive version of the Magic Mouse-shaped car will have a max estimated driving range of over 300 miles.

The European WLTP estimated the range at 382 miles, but the range is a bit less than that. The Ioniq 5 ran on a 77.4kWh battery and had a range of 300 miles.

The Ioniq 6 is one of the few cars in the US with a fast 800-volt charging system. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. The Ioniq 6 can preheat the battery when it is pointed to a charging station if it is cold.

One of the larger charging networks in the US, Electrify America, has a deal with the Korean company to provide unlimited 30-minute charging sessions. It's the same offer that's given to new Ioniq 5 and Kona EV owners and is very competitive compared to deals from other manufacturers. It's only useful if you road trip frequently. For most drivers, Level 2 (AC) charging at home is a must, and the Ioniq 6 has a 10.9 kilowatt onboard charge that is good for a full charge in about 7 hours and 10 minutes.

The Ioniq 6 can go the distance with other long-range electric vehicles in the US, such as the BMW iX xDrive50 and Ford's mustang Mach-E.

Ioniq 6 is great on range because it is efficient. On the rear-wheel-drive model, Ioniq 6 only sheds about a tenth of a watt per mile. The Model 3 RWD has an EPA-estimation of 260Wh per mile.

The Ioniq 6's excellent aerodynamics are calculated at a 0.22 drag coefficients. It was calculated on an Ioniq 6 with the Digital Side Mirrors that are not yet approved in the US, so the original calculation was a little lower. Cars equipped with this feature have slim camera housings in place of traditional side mirrors, which send a feed of what you would normally see out the window onto a display on the dashboard.
