VinFast showcased four battery-electric SUVs at the LA Auto Show this week, as it pushes ahead with its plan to break into the U.S. market.
The company is trying to appeal to U.S. consumers with the four EV that ranged in size from small five-passenger crossovers to large seven-passenger SUVs. It may take more than just SUVs to succeed in the EV market. The chief service officer of VinFast U.S. said that choice is part of the plan.
In order to get Americans to know the new brand, VinFast wants to flood the space with lots of options. The executive said that VinFast may show off a sports car in the U.S. by next year.
At the LA auto show, Westbrook said that they need a product offensive. The market needs to come to market strong. We don't need to change models or buy opportunities for the few Within a year, you will have all the four models, all the SUVs, and all the prices.
The VF6 and VF7 are expected to be on the market by early 2023.

VinFast showed off the VF6, VF7, VF8 and VF9 at the LA Auto Show, as well as offering ride-alongs in the VF8 outside the convention center. The interiors of the VF6 and VF7 were open to the public to get a feel for what the new-to-the-U.S. interiors would look like.
The weight of the battery pack, which VinFast estimates will get up to 292 miles of range, makes the VF8 feel like any other EV SUV. The interior is made of vegan leather and has a large screen. The backseat feels spacious and open, and the ride in the rear is equally engaging.
The VF8 and VF9 will be delivered to buyers in early 2023. VinFast says it has taken 65,000 reservations for the VF8 and VF9 around the world, but it didn't have a breakdown for North America.
Most of the orders are coming to California, and most of the customers are first time EV-leapers.
The majority of the pre-orders have taken place here. California is simple. We are going to serve these customers first because headquarters and a port are located here. We want to look at all our customers, but that will be the first way that we can try to get in on the act.
VinFast currently has six retail locations open in California, all of which are located in shopping malls where people can check out the cars. Some of the first vehicles coming off the boat from Vietnam will go to stores so that more potential customers can try them out.
Many of the reservation holders have not made a decision on whether or not to lease their vehicle or buy it on their own. When asked about the reception of the option for reservation holders, Westbrook said, "We've seen growing acceptance and interest in the option."
According to the presentation at the LA Auto Show, VinFast recently took an order for 2,500 cars from the car subscription company Autonomy, which deals only inTeslas.
VinFast wants to make the transition to battery-electric as easy as possible for new customers. To that end, the company announced more details of its bumper-to-bumper warranty, offering an industry-leading 10-year and 125,000-mile of coverage and a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty that the company says is designed to give EV customers peace of mind as they transition
If customers get stranded, the company will provide a mobile service that will come to them.
When it comes to quality, people expect us to meet them. When you buy a car over here and our service point is over there, you might not want to come to us. We can help you. Part of our model. It isn't being coerced into something. That is what you want as a customer, that is what we understand.
