Why the Bills get a 'massive advantage' with game moved to Detroit (1:05)

The move of the Cleveland and Buffalo games to Detroit affects both teams. Affirmative.

9:01 PM AST

The area surrounding Highmark Stadium received three feet of snow in the hours after the Bills game was moved to Detroit.

The Bills canceled Friday's practice for safety reasons but the team is meeting virtually. There are a few players in the area who are without power. The game will be played at 1 p.m. The show is on CBS.

Sean McDermott said he wanted to make sure he could see the guys in the eye and that most of them were able to get on. Everyone seemed to be doing well for most of the time. When things get bigger than football, we have to remember that there are people out there that are working in this and have to get to the hospital.

There is more going on that is more important than football.

The Bills are still expecting to travel to Detroit on Saturday but may have to push back their usual away game schedule. The departure time was changed because of the weather. The team wants to give them time to leave their homes and make sure their families are okay.

If the snow slows down, we'll have to move some things back in the morning. It's supposed to slow down early tomorrow morning around the stadium here and in Orchard Park, and then give the guys time to dig out, make sure their families are okay, and then we'll head into the game.

The team will be without three players for the game, including defensive end Greg Rousseau, who has an ankle injury. White has been on the active roster for three weeks but hasn't played. He hasn't been listed on the team's injury report because he is still working his way back from a tornACL.

White isn't ready to play.

Three players are questionable for the game, including safety Jordan Poyer, who has an elbow injury. It is a positive sign that Poyer and Elam would have been full participants if the Bills had practiced Friday.

The team placed wide receiver Jake Kumerow on injured reserve with an ankle injury. He was with the Bills from 2020 to 2021.

The venue change didn't happen until Thursday afternoon, so the decision was made to stay in Detroit. The team might have left before the storm started if it had been made sooner. The team decided to follow their normal road routine.

The plan is to return after Sunday's game and spend a few days at the facility before heading back to Detroit to face the Lions on Thanksgiving.

"Sean does a great job of communicating with our guys," Beane said. It will be a football game. It's the same thing. The flight is a short one. We want to keep it as normal as possible. Is it a bit of a problem? I agree. Our guys are good. They're aware of it.

The Bills didn't have enough players to practice because of injury and illness, so they held more individual periods than usual. With only one player with an injury designation, the team expects to get the others back for the game.

After the decision was made to move the game, they practiced outside and held another walk-through.

The decision to move the game to Detroit has a lot to do with safety. For the last 48 to 72 hours, safety has been the focus.
