Wake County records show that a former NC State football player was arrested this week and charged with stalking and communicating threats.
Joseph Boletepeli, a member of the NC State football team, was arrested for sending a message on his social media account. Dave Doeren is one of the people.
Boletepeli was a member of the football team before moving to Maryland.
Boletepeli pulled away from officers who tried to handcuff him.
According to reports from WRAL, investigators said Boletepeli was seen several times near Doeren's place of work and had sent threatening text messages to Doeren and other staff members. Boletepeli behaved in a way that would cause a reasonable person to suffer substantial emotional distress by placing that person in fear of death, bodily injury or the safety of the person's immediate family.
Boletepeli made 13 tackles over the course of two seasons with the Wolfpack. He played in five games for Maryland in 2020 and only started one game.
Boletepeli was a three-star prospect at Heritage High in Raleigh, where he was coached by several former NC State greats.
Boletepeli had an ankle monitoring system, according to WRAL.
