Ronnie O'Sullivan and Ding Junhui
O'Sullivan has won both the World and UK Championships seven times

It was the first time in his career that he had been whitewashed in a Triple Crown tournament.

After a tight opening two frames, O'Sullivan was the favourite to win the tournament but never fired.

The Englishman didn't score a point in the next four frames.

"Ding is a class act and I want to see him win now," said O' Sullivan.

With a 131 break, China's Ding sealed his place in the semi-finals. He will meet Tom Ford after the victory.

O'Sullivan had said earlier in the week that snooker was insignificant to him and that he was not under any pressure.

O'Sullivan has won 21 Triple Crown events, with seven victories in the world championship and Masters, so he didn't seem concerned by the score.

He told the radio station that it was going to hurt his career.

I have been in the game for 30 years and have taken some knocks along the way. It does not matter to me.

It goes great on some days and not on others. What can you do about that day?

None of the top 10 seeds will make the semi-finals as a result of the result.

O'Sullivan looked out of place, summed up by a missed black.

O' Sullivan said that his bad has been better than other people's bad.

I get some time off now because I have had a good run.

"Ding did a great job." I wish he played like that more because he is so good for the game.

Triple UK champion Ding has fallen to 38 in the world rankings, but O' Sullivan thinks he is better suited for the bigger occasions.

It doesn't work in the smaller venues. He said that putting a horse in a mucky old course wouldn't bring the best out of it.

I had a bit of luck and played well.

I know when I'm in front he can come back very fast. He didn't seem to be able to do it.

Ford won the 10th frame when he missed a red that would have sealed the victory.
