According to the company's remaining employees, Musk's vision for the company did not go over well. Insider reported on Thursday that more than half of the remaining staff at the company chose to take a pay cut rather than commit to the vision of Musk.

"I may be exceptional, but I'm just not hardcore, that's why I work in supply chain and capacity management."

In an email earlier this week, Musk told all employees to click a sign up link before 5pm to commit to his vision for the company. If you're laid off on Thursday, you'll get three months' compensation.

Senior executives tried to convince some critical personnel to stay, according to Insider.
