A lot of verified accounts started pretending to be brands, celebrities, and athletes when the old terms were published during the rush of the new service. Eli Lilly and Lockheed Martin's shares took a hit because of fake verified accounts on social media.

The company does not allow verified users to change their name. The verified checkmark will be lost until the social network confirms that the new name follows its rules, according to Musk. The company doesn't have a formal policy around that.

The new paid plan is causing a lot of problems for the micro-blogging site. Musk promised that subscribers would get prominence on the notification tab, replies, and searches, but briefly moved the verified notification tab's position to place it before all notifications. After assessing the initial results from the verification roll out, it's clear that it has to keep advertisers on the platform.
