Even though the Los Angeles Lakers didn't play Thursday night, they may have still been on the minds of King James when he was analyzing the Green Bay Packers.

He said that if you have a player like Rodgers you will have a great team. Why don't you surround that, to maximize what he can do?

Paul Rivera asked if we were still talking football or basketball, which led to some laughter on set.

The alternate broadcast of the game was hosted by James, Rivera and Carter. It had guest appearances from the Los Angeles Rams' Jalen Ramsey and the Dallas Cowboys' Dez Bryant.

In the last part of Rodgers' career, the Packers have been criticized for not drafting enough offensive players. Davante Adams was traded this year.

The Packers have only been to the Super Bowl once in Rodgers' career, but he is considered one of the best quarterbacks of all time. They have fallen short in the playoffs in each of the last two years.

It's hard to not read between the lines when James speaks.

Even though the Lakers missed the playoffs and played in the play-in tournament, they didn't change their roster much. The purple and gold don't look like they're in the playoffs.

If the season continues to go down this path, the front office is going to resist moving first-round picks.

After the 37 year old James is past his prime or perhaps even retired, the first-round picks in 2029 and 2027 will be used.

It's in the best interest of the franchise but James wants to win now.

The Lakers don't seem to be doing much of that this season.
