Last year, Donald Trump tried to take over the U.S. Capitol like Mussolini did in Italy.
Following testimony before the House select committee by Robert Engel, who was the lead Secret Service agent for Trump on the day of the insurrection, Raskin revealed what he thinks the president intended that day. The president demanded to be taken to the Capitol after a mob of his supporters broke into the building.
The MSNBC host said that he couldn't give details of the testimony.
The former president was angry when he was not taken to the Capitol. He wanted to join the mob and go to the Capitol with them.
He was adamant that he be able to go to the Capitol despite the conflicting information. He thought that he would be carried on the shoulders of his supporters as he entered the Capitol.
In June, Cassidy Hutchinson testified that Anthony Ornato, the White House deputy chief of staff for operations, told her that Trump was angry when his request to be taken to the Capitol was denied.
Trump tried to grab for the wheel of the presidential vehicle, and he also tried to grab for the other person, according to Hutchinson.
The president told them to take him up to the Capitol. The man replied, "We have to go back to the West Wing."
According to Raskin, Trump believed that Joe Biden would win the election.
Donald Trump thought he was going to stay in office for four more years. He thought that through the day.
