China wants retired military staff to help increase production at the world's largest Apple factory.
There is a Veteran Affairs Bureau of the People's Liberation Army in the same province.
There has been an outbreak of Covid in the area.
The bureau said in an open letter that veterans should show up where there's a need and that they were under the control of the Communist Party.
They were urged to take part in the restart of production.
Many factories are located in China.
About 500,000 a day are produced at the plant in Zhengzhou, a city with a population of 10 million.
China's Covid wave has forced the temporary closing of a few factories.
The Zhengzhou factory has been placed under a "vid bubble" since the beginning of the year.
Workers who test positive are sent to a quasar centre within the factory, but this hasn't stopped them from getting sick.
In October, a few cases were found inside the factory, at the same time the city of Zhengzhou announced a lock down. There was no release of the number of infections.
People panicked inside the factory. There are videos on social media that show a group of workers trying to escape.
There was no public transportation for staff to use.
Production has been stopped. More than two-thirds of the production lines are operating, according to a research group.
There was a need for 10,000 more workers at the factory according to a report.
According to NetEast, the local government has been told to send at least one person from each village to the factory.
The largest employer in Zhengzhou is Foxconn. It exported more than half a billion dollars worth of products.
The two companies haven't responded to the requests for comment.
