The all-electric Fiat 500e will be available in the US in the first quarter of 2024.
The 500e's U.S. launch may be limited to subscriptions, according to the executive. It might be usership. There may be a combination of both.
The executive said there would be a healthy dose of digital. The business model needs to be reinvented by everyone.
The all-electric Fiat 500e is considered a huge success in Europe. It's not clear whether it will be accepted by U.S. buyers. The original 500e, which was essentially a retro'd version of an internal combustion version of the same model, didn't fare well and was mostly considered a compliance car in the U.S.
Francois thinks it will be different. The 500e will have an estimated range of more than 150 miles, the ability to charge the 85 kW battery up to 30 miles in five minutes, and will come with an advanced driver assistance system. The Uconnect 5 connected car system will be included with the 500e.
Francois made comments about the North American roll out of the 500e. The brand seems to be ready to try a number of sales and launch tactics for the region.

The car business has been suggested to be changed by subscriptions. During an event for its Care By Volvo subscription, Volvo told people not to buy their cars. Volvo intended to make having a car as easy as having a cell phone, but it turned out to be more of a hassle for some subscribers. There is a note on Volvo's website that says "inventory is currently unavailable online"
Francois said that his focus was on figuring out the future of mobility with a car that was designed for the city.
