The site crashed earlier this week during pre-sale events for Taylor Swift's "The Eras" tour because of "historically unprecedented" demand.
Friday's public on-sale event was canceled due to "extraordinarily high demands of ticketing systems and insufficient remaining tickets to meet that demand."
Live Nation chairman Greg Maffei said that 2 million tickets have been sold for the North American tour, which has roughly 50 events scheduled.
After fans had issues with long wait times and site crashes during Tuesday's pre-sale event, the company said it experienced "historically unprecedented" demand on its platform.
It is not known how the remaining tickets will be sold.
Forbes reached out to Swift's representative for comment, despite Swift not publicly commenting on the issue.
Swift's new album, Midnights, earned her the biggest debut of her career, and so she decided to go on a tour called "The Eras". Swift is the first artist to have all of her songs in the top 10 of the Hot 100. Swift did not tour in the last year because she did a tour that broke a sales record. Swift added a number of shows before tickets went on sale. Through the site's "verified fan" program, consumers are able to purchase tickets ahead of time. Capital One's pre-sale event was postponed in response. There are politicians who have raised antitrust concerns about Live Nation. The resale market for "Eras" tickets was selling for as much as $30,000.
