If you have a recent console, you will be able to play the Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII remake. The resolution and frame rate of console gaming can be different depending on which console you have.
You can play Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion in 4K at a maximum frame rate of 60 frames per second on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. You can play on Switch in both docked and handheld modes, but you won't get the full 30 frames per second. Depending on which model you play on, performance will be different. You will only be able to see 60 frames per second after installing a planned day one patch. The frame rates listed for each platform are the maximums.
You can see all of the targets for yourself in the chart.
It's nice that Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is available on many platforms, especially since the excellent Final Fantasy VII Re remake is only available on PS4 and PC. The platform differences may not be a problem if lower resolutions and frames don't bother you.
If you haven't found a top-end console yet and you want to play the new Crisis Core, you'll have to compromise. You might want to wait until the game is out to see how it plays on older consoles, as Nintendo is having some trouble with its marquee Switch games. It is a far cry from the days when you had to pick between two consoles and expect the same performance.
The new trailer for the game is called more than a re-release. While that is certainly referencing things like the modern-day graphics, fully voiced dialogue, and an updated combat system, it could also point to some story changes to tie into Final Fantasy VII ReMake and its upcoming sequel, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Final Fantasy VII Reunion will be released in December.
