Android will prompt you to update apps if they’re crashing

A new prompt will be offered in the face of crashes in order to remind you to update.

The prompt says to update the app. The latest update for the app might fix the problem. Open the app again after installing the update.

If an app isn't fully updated, the prompt won't help. It is likely that a fix isn't available if you are already running it. I hope the new prompt will be more helpful than not, as I have been able to resolve crashing issues with simple updates.

The new prompt is rolling out with the latest version of the play store app. A new automatic update feature for people with limited mobile data and no access to wi-fi is one of the changes and fixes coming to the operating system this month.
