Rob Edwards: Luton Town set to name former Watford boss as new manager

The ex-Watford manager is expected to be named the new manager of the club.

After guiding Forest Green to promotion from League Two last season, the 39-year-old was named as the new head coach of the Hornets.

He was fired after just 11 games in charge.

Last week, Nathan Jones was appointed as the new manager of Southampton.

He retired at the age of 30 after a playing career that began at Villa and went on to include spells at Wolves and Blackpool.

He was head coach of the England's under-16s team for a year before becoming the interim boss of Wolves.

Forest Green won half of their 46 league games and lost only eight in the season that ended in October.

The rivalry between the two teams dates back to 1921 when they faced each other in a league game.

Neil McBain was the first person to manage both clubs.

When the two teams met at Vicarage Road in October, the Hornets were fourth in the Championship and the Hatters were fifth.
