According to an analyst, the wired transfer speeds of the iPhone 15 Pro models are going to be upgraded with the switch to theusb-c standard. He doesn't think that benefit is coming to the regular iPhones. He thinks that the 15 and 15 Plus will swap in the same way that the 10th-gen iPad did, with the same speed.
The prediction was made in a series of posts on Wednesday. The analyst usually gets information from supply chain sources. He predicted that the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max would support at least one of the aforementioned devices. If that is true, that would mean they could transfer data at speeds up to 40 Gbps, a boon for people who use the Pro phones to shoot a lot of ProRes video and raw photos.
In May, he speculated that the change in port could improve iPhone's transfer and charging speed, but now he has more information about how Apple will use it. Since then, the EU has mandated that new phones have a charging port, though it won't go into effect until fall of 2024.
It won't be a surprise if Apple upgraded the transfer speeds for its next pro models but not its regular ones. The mainline models were stuck with last year's internal hardware, while the iPhone 14 Pro received a new chip. Better wired speeds feel like the type of feature that pros would appreciate, as Apple has been trying to find more and more ways to differentiate its higher tier of phones. Even though the regular iPhones don't support advanced content creation features, that's still true.
