Mark Esper, a former defense secretary, criticized Donald Trump after he announced his candidacy for president.

"I think he's not up to the job," said Esper, who worked for the Trump administration.

At his Mar-a-Lago club on Tuesday evening, Trump announced to a crowd of supporters that he was launching a third campaign. His remarks lasted more than an hour and were dull.

He said it was time for the Republican party and both parties to move on to a next generation of leaders.

The Republican Party blamed the disappointing results on the former president because many of his endorsed candidates lost in key races.

The election last week was an example of Donald Trump's inability to win elections, according to the man.

Less than a dozen races are still being counted, despite the party losing the Senate and narrowly winning the House.

He said that Trump has done more to help Democrats than he has Republicans. We should've taken the Senate but we haven't.

Trump hasn't gotten endorsements from other people besides his loyalists. In recent days, Republicans have pointed to other leaders as examples of who can move the party forward. Last week, he was reelected.

"DeSantis appears to me to be the front runner for the Republican nomination in the next election," he said.

If you want to govern consistent with conservative principles, then you need to win elections. Donald Trump cannot win an election.
