A new owner is buying the service. In an announcement on Wednesday, the note-taking app announced that it is being acquired by the Italian mobile developer Bending Spoons.
The video editing app Splice and the artificial intelligence image enhancement app Remini are included in the existing lineup of apps. Ian Small says the deal will allow the company to take advantage of the app expertise and wide range of proprietary technologies that it can use.
Small said that they are grateful to their customers and employees and are excited to team up with Bending Spoons. It's great news for lovers of Evernote everywhere that there will be extensive, accelerated improvements across our teams, professional, personal, and free offerings.
One of the first note taking apps was Evernote. The app was hard to keep up with with the introduction of other productivity apps. A new privacy policy that would have allowed employees to look at your content came under fire.
The constraints on the free version that limits the usage of the app to only two devices helped steer some users away from the platform. There have been many complaints about the upgrade to version 10, as the app removed features and many users reported performance issues.
