Brendan Fraser will not attend the Golden Globe Awards if he is nominated for his role in The Whale, after accusing the former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association of touching him in 2003

Fraser accused Berk of attacking him at a luncheon for the organization at the Beverly Hills Hotel, but Berk denied the accusations.
Berk, who had been a member of the association for 44 years, was kicked out in 2021, after sending an email that referred to Black Lives Matter as a "racist hate movement."
Fraser will not participate in this year's Golden Globes awards if he is nominated, because of his history with them, he said in a recent interview.

Fraser rose to fame in the 1990s and has starred in a number of films. Fraser did not talk about the incident with Berk until after the fact. The New York Times reported in 2004 that Fraser demanded and received a written apology from both the association and Philip Berk after Mr. Berk grabbed Mr. Fraser's buttocks. Berk stated in his memoir that he only wrote the apology to appease Fraser, not because he did anything wrong. Fraser said he felt unwell when Berk groped him. I felt small. There was a ball in my throat. I felt like I was going to cry. Fraser's first leading role in years is in The Whale, a film about a 600 pound man.
