The cause of the crash is under investigation, as at least 22 cadets with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department were injured when a driver crashed into them on a morning run.

The Los Angeles Times reported that a vehicle traveled the wrong way and slammed into a group of cadets outside.

The Los Angeles County Fire Battalion Chief said that seven of the injured cadets are in critical condition.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said victims were taken to local hospitals and the severity of their injuries was not yet known.

The driver, a 22-year-old male, has been taken into custody for further investigation.

The driver was injured after hitting a streetlight pole.

ABC 7 reported that at least 21 recruits with the Sheriff's Department were injured when a vehicle struck them.
