The pace of Canadian housing starts slowed in October, reversing a surge in the previous month.
The data from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation showed a decrease in the number of urban starts in October compared to the previous month. There were 57,045 urban starts of single-detached homes in September, compared to 59,593 in the previous month.

The increase was driven by multi-unit activity. The national average was down due to the decline in starts in Toronto andVancouver.
The six-month trend in starts continued to move upward, hitting 277,667 units in October, up 1% from the prior month.
