The football game was canceled because of the shooting on the university's campus.

The three football players were killed in a shooting outside.

Virginia canceled its final home game and hasn't decided if it will play on the road against Virginia Tech in November.

Jones was taken into custody by the police. He has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder and three counts of handgun possession.

A bus carrying students from a trip to Washington, D.C. was shot at by a former member of the football team.

Brian Coy told CNN that the 22-year-old was at risk of being disciplined because he failed to reveal his concealed weapons conviction.

Jim Ryan said police hadn't determined the reason for the shooting.

Thousands of students gathered in the middle of the campus for a protest.

The football coach spoke Monday.

"I cannot find the words to express the devastation and heartache that our team is feeling today after the tragic events last night that resulted in the deaths of Lavel, D’Sean and Devin, and the others who were injured. These were incredible young men with huge aspirations and extremely bright futures. Our hearts ache for their families, their classmates and their friends. These precious young men were called away too soon. We are all fortunate to have them be a part of our lives. They touched us, inspired us and worked incredibly hard as representatives of our program, university and community. Rest in peace, young men."

The Athletic Director acknowledged that the players and their coach were going to talk about the game.

Virginia is 3-7 this year. They wouldn't be bowl eligible this season because of their 37-7 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday.
