The X convertible concept shows off its design chops with an EV that builds on the previous Genesis X and X Speedium vehicles. The folding hardtop roof is meant to evoke "design purity" and it uses an "anti-wedge parabolic" design. The front end has been replaced with a more subtle design and a longer line. The short front overhang adds to the length. The X Speedium's headlights are carried over. Drivers can see the stars even when the hardtop roof is closed. The interior is very similar to the previous two concepts with the dashboard screen curving across and down towards the right armrest. According to Genesis, the interior is inspired in part by traditional Korean roof architecture. We have no idea about the battery or the drivetrain. The E-GMP platform used in the Ioniq 5 and the EV6 would make sense. To meet the expectations of luxury car buyers, Genesis could dial up the power and battery sizes. The X convertible is a "beacon for the brand" according to Genesis. It won't be built in this form, but the company wants to show buyers what can be done. "We need to inject more excitement into the brand," it said. Genesis will show the opposite if someone thinks electric vehicles can't be sexy.
