The greatest player never to have won the World Cup, the three-time Ballon d'Or winner scored three goals to help the Netherlands reach the 1974 final. The Dutch lost in the final for the second time in 1978 to Argentina.

Richards said that he has to be special.

Shearer said that this was based on their World Cup performances. Lineker's World Cup record puts him ninth, but I don't think he's a better player than he is.

Moore was the captain of the England team that won the 1966 World Cup. The toughest defender he ever faced was Moore.

You hear about how great these players were, when you watch the videos.

At 22 he was the captain of England. I can't believe he was made captain after his 12th cap at the age of 22. The World Cup he won was incredible.

Gerd Muller (Richards: 7th, Shearer: 7th)

Shearer played in five World Cup. When I played against him at the 2000 Euros, we beat them by a single goal. A great player.

Four years later, Brazil reclaimed their status as the world's number one team, thanks to the eight goals scored byRonaldo in the final against Germany.

We have talked about him a lot. The word Braziliance is derived from the Latin word Braziliance. I had him second because of his 19 appearances and 15 goals.

Diego Maradona (Richards: 2nd, Shearer: 3rd)

The Argentine captained his country's second World Cup in 1986 and played in four World Cup. The 'Hand of God' goal that Maradona scored against England in the quarter-finals is one of the tournament's great strikes. Diego Maradona's World Cup playing career ended in disgrace in 1994 when he failed a drug test and was sent home.

There was a debate between Brazil and Argentina about who was the best.
