On November 29th, sign-ups for the service will be reintroduced, according to Musk.

The blue checkmark that was only given to verified accounts of politicians, celebrities, high-profile media personnel, and other public figures will no longer be given to anyone who signs up for the eight-dollar-a-month service.

The blue checkmark will become a symbol that merely shows you're a subscriber with access to premium features, while many of the previously verified accounts will display a new "official" label on their profile.

The "official" label is back on many of the profile pages of the company after being pulled last week.

All Blue checkmarks will be removed from profile pages in a few months.

A bunch of imitation accounts started to show up with the old verification blue checkmark, causing confusion for a lot of the community's 230 million or so active users. Some of the fake accounts bore the names of well-known companies such as Nintendo and ElyLily, and contained offensive or false statements.

A number of brands have stopped advertising on the platform due to the confusion surrounding the acquisition by Musk.

The message Musk sent on Tuesday is intended to assure users and advertisers that the uncertainty surrounding Blue will be over by the end of the month.

Less than a week after taking over, Musk fired half the workforce to cut costs and push the platform towards profit. The entire board of directors gave their marching orders as well.

There is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of the social networking site. Many are wondering if Musk will follow through on his desire to relax the moderation of content on the platform, which could lead to more offensive and problematic content appearing on the platform. The new owner may want to transform it into a so-called "everything app" by folding in a suite of additional services. He needs to get those brands spending on advertising again to sign up for the service.
