Buck Showalter became just the third person to win a fourth award and the first to win with four different teams when he was named the National League Manager of the Year on Tuesday.

The first Mets manager to win the award, Showalter received eight of 30 first-place votes, 10 second-place votes and 77 total points. Roberts had just four second place votes for 57 points, but he had eight first place votes. Brian Snitker finished third with 55 points. He got seven first place votes.

The voting was done before the playoffs by a panel of baseball writers.

Showalter has won Manager of the Year in four different decades, his previous awards being with the New York Yankees, Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles. Tony La Russa and Bobby Cox have won four times.

Showalter has received four awards in four decades. It has remained the same in a lot of ways.

The Mets made the playoffs for the first time in two years, but lost in the wild-card round.

Showalter led the New York Yankees to 101 victories, the most of any team he has managed. The Mets have won at least 100 games in each of the last three years. The Braves won the NL East title despite finishing in a first-place tie with the Mets.

Showalter, Roberts, Snitker, and Marmol received multiple first-place votes.

The Dodgers have made the playoffs in each of the seven seasons in which Roberts has been their manager.

Roberts has a career regular-season winning percentage of.632. That's the highest percentage of managers from a particular league.

In the Negro Leagues, Bullet Rogan,Vic Harris and Rube Foster owned higher lifetime winning percentages.

A career coach and minor league manager, Snitker is now the NL Manager of the Year.

During Snitker's six-plus seasons with the franchise, the Braves won 101 times. Atlanta won the NL East title for the fifth time.

Snitker has helped Atlanta catch fire late in the season in the past two years. The Braves won the World Series in 2011.

The Braves lost in the NLDS to the Philadelphia team. The Braves won the division after trailing the Mets by seven games on August 10.

Snitker has finished in the top four in NL Manager of the Year balloting for five years in a row.
