According to a source, Anthony Rizzo is re-signing with the New York Yankees for up to 51 million dollars.

A source told Jeff Passan that Rizzo will make $34 million over the next two seasons with a club option for 25 years. He has an option of $17 million in 25 years.

After being traded from the Chicago Cubs to the New York Mets at the 2021 trade deadline, first baseman Anthony Rizzo signed a two-year, $32 million deal to return to New York. He was a free agent after opting out of his contract.

He hit 32 home runs for the fourth time in his career, and had 75 in 130 games despite a.224 batting average, despite never hitting more than one home run in a game. He was out between August 31 and September 18 due to back pain.

As a free agent, Judge is a favorite teammate for the Yankees. At the recently completed GM Meetings, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman indicated keeping Rizzo was a priority.

42% of the Yankees' 77 home runs were hit by left-handed hitters, and 42% of the 202 by New York's lefties, as was the case with Rizzo's home run percentage.
