New information has been added to the post.

A complimentary breakfast for up to two adults and two children per room, lounge access and suite upgrades are just some of the perks that World of Hyatt connoisseurs love.

Fast tracks to Globalist status were offered by Hyatt in 2020. You don't have to sleep in a Hyatt property for 60 nights a year to get Globalist status. You can change your path to Globalist status with credit card elite qualification nights.

Hyatt stays booked on points or free night certificates can be used to earn elite nights.

There are a few ways to qualify for Globalist status at a fraction of the cost of booking on cash.

How to qualify for Globalist status

Globalist members can enjoy the concierge lounge with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and drinks at the Grand Hyatt Bali. HYATT

Each year there are three ways to become a Globalist.

  • 60 qualifying nights.
  • 100,000 base points.
  • 20 qualifying meetings/events.

It is likely that most World of Hyatt members will qualify for Globalist status by earning 60 nights.

Since World of Hyatt members earn 5 base points per dollar, 100,000 base points would need to be spent at Hyatt properties. The bonus points that globalists are eligible for are not considered in the calculation of base points for elite status.

You can get Globalist status if you plan events and organize meetings. Each meeting or event you host must have at least 10 paid guest rooms in order to be eligible. The attendees can still pay for their rooms.

World of Hyatt credit cards

Hyatt Centric Downtown Nashville. HYATT

There are two credit cards offered by World of Hyatt, the World of Hyatt Credit Card and the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card.

World of Hyatt Credit Card

The World of Hyatt Credit Card has a sign-up bonus of 30,000 bonus points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in your first three months from account opening, plus up to 30,000 additional bonus points by earning 2 bonus points for every $1 spent in the first six months from account opening.

It becomes better than that.

You get five tier-qualifying nights every year if you hold the card. If you spend more than $5,000 on the card, you can earn two additional tier-qualifying night credits. If you put a decent amount of spending on the card to get the full sign-up bonus, you will earn elite night credits along the way.

Assume you spend $20,000 on the card. What would you make?

  • Five elite nights annually for being a World of Hyatt cardmember.
  • Eight elite nights from $20,000 of annual spending (two elite nights per $5,000 spent on qualifying purchases).
  • One free night certificate valid at any Category 1-4 property (for spending $15,000 in a single calendar year), in addition to the free night certificate you earn just for keeping your account open.

You have earned more than 20% of the 60 elite nights required for Globalist status with 13 elite qualification nights.

An annual free night certificate at a Hyatt property is one of the perks of the card.

World of Hyatt Business Credit Card

You can get a 60,000 point sign-up bonus on the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card if you spend $5,000 in your first three months.

Every $10,000 you spend on the card, you will get five elite nights. 60 elite nights is enough for Globalist status without staying in a hotel.

An annual $100 Hyatt credit and Discoverist status for you is one of the benefits of the card.

Category 1 Hyatt redemptions

Katie enjoyed a complimentary full buffet breakfast from her Globalist status at the Park Hyatt Chennai. KATIE GENTER/THE POINTS GUY

You can quickly accrue elite nights without spending a lot of points at Category 1 Hyatt properties. If you travel overseas, most Category 1 Hyatts can offer more amenities. The Park Hyatt Chennai in India is a Category 1 property, which led to the decision to stay there for the night. The Story Hotel Signalfabriken is located in Sweden.

It would be difficult to find 60 nights at 3,500 points per night, but with 210,000 World of Hyatt points you could earn 60 elite nights.

If you're short on Hyatt points, you can transfer points from Chase cards to World of Hyatt at a ratio of 1:. The transfers should be done in a matter of seconds. It is possible to transfer Bilt rewards points to World of Hyatt.

It is possible to earn Globalist status with no credit cards or cash out of pocket by booking lots of discount award stays. There is a list of Hyatt Category 1 properties.

For just 10,000 points per night, you can book a suite at the Grand HyattBali.

Booking staycations

Hyatt Place in Houston. SUMMER HULL/THE POINTS GUY

You can book a Hyatt staycation without hitting the open road. This can be a good way to get elite nights. Cheap stays were booked by Summer Hull and Victoria Walker.

A year ago, Summer booked a Hyatt Place in Houston for $60 per night with taxes and fees. She paid no cash out of pocket because Summer wiped out the entire cost of her stay.

Some people treat these stays as mini-getaways, while others use the rooms as offices and enjoy the hotel's amenities, such as a pool and gym. Hyatt requires you to show up at the hotel at check-in to complete the stay. If you violate those rules, you could lose your points and earnings.

If a hotel notices you aren't using the room, they may check you out early. Don't forget to use the room.

Is it necessary for you to show up at the hotel to check in?

Securing lower rates than what's on hyatt.com

Room at Hotel Kabuki in San Francisco. HYATT

If you find a lower publicly available rate for the same stay within 24 hours of booking the stay directly with Hyatt, Hyatt will not only match the rate but give you either 20% off the rate you found, or 5000 World of Hyatt points. If you book a room for more than one night, you should get a 20% discount on your room rate.

If you find a cheaper rate, you can get an extra 20% discount.

If you want to submit a Hyatt best-rate guarantee claim, you have to make your reservation within the 24 hour period. Your claim will be reviewed by a Hyatt representative. If they can independently verify the lower rate, your claim will be approved and you will be able to save hundreds of dollars.

There is a state of the hotel best-rate guarantee.

Consider a status match or challenge

American Airlines elite members are currently eligible for a Hyatt status challenge. ZACH GRIFF/THE POINTS GUY

Hyatt is on the conservative side with challenges. It offers two fast-track opportunities.

You can match your status to the World of Hyatt elite if you are an elite member of MGM rewards. You won't need to stay with Hyatt in order to enjoy your status. The World of Hyatt Discoverist and the World of Hyatt Explorist have matching MGM rewards.

Hyatt occasionally has offers for American Airlines AAdvantage elite members. From one promotion to the next, the challenge requirements are usually different. The current promotion is set to end on November 30.

The World of Hyatt Explorist status is enjoyed by American Gold and Platinum members for 90 days after registration. You need to stay 10 elite nights within 90 days of registration to have your status extended. If you register for the status match, you'll get Explorist status for 90 days. If you stay at least 10 elite nights within 90 days of registration, you'll be able to keep your Explorist status through February 2024, but if you stay at least 20 elite nights, you'll have Globalist status through February 2024.

If you want to participate in the current promotion, you must register by November 30th.

I had a love affair with Hyatt.

Bottom line

The World of Hyatt Globalist status is worth it even if you only earn 60 elite qualification nights. There is a lot of love for the elite status tier.

By finding hidden gems in World of Hyatt's award chart and securing lower rates from price matches, each Globalist member chooses their own path to status.
