Sunisa Lee will end her collegiate career at the end of the 2023 season to return to elite gymnastics after winning the all-around gold medal at the Olympics.
She said in the post that she would be focusing on making the US team for the Olympics in Paris.
Lee shared a decision that weighed on him for a long time in a video. "As an athlete that has competed at the highest level, I've been fortunate enough to experience that once-in-a-lifetime feeling and the emotion when a gold medal is draped around your neck." I want it to be more than one time.
While several of her teammates from the national team, including Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles, have been competing elite and collegiately at the same time, Lee has never competed at the NCAA level. Carey and Chiles were part of the American team that won a gold medal at the world championship.

Lee had said she was unsure if she would return to elite competition, but she said she always knew what she wanted to do.
Lee said that he had a small voice in his head telling him that he wasn't done with elite and wanted to give it another chance. It is a full-time job as you near the end of an Olympic cycle and get closer to the Games themselves. Six to seven days a week. I know that I need to dedicate time to represent my country again, but this decision allows me to do that.
Lee acknowledged that she was even more excited to return to that level of competition after watching Carey and Chiles succeed.
At the 2020 Tokyo Games, Lee became the surprise all-around champion after Simone Biles withdrew. Lee was the first woman of Asian descent to win the honor. Lee helped the US to a silver medal in the team competition.
She has also been named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine.
Lee was one of the most heralded freshmen in the history of the program when he arrived at auburn. She became the first Olympic all-around champion to compete at the NCAA level and one of two individual gold medalists to do so. She won the NCAA title on balance beam and was runner-up in the all-around competition during her first season with the team. She had five perfect 10.0 scores on the year and won the SEC title on bars. She scored the highest on bars and beam in the country.
Lee is expected to contend for several individual NCAA titles as well as give auburn its best chance to win an NCAA team title
Lee wants to be the best teammate she can be and continue the amazing legacy the team built last season.
The capacity of the arena was sold out for all of the home meets in 2011. The school announced earlier this month that the remaining single-meet tickets would be standing room only.
The schedule hasn't been released yet, but it's expected that auburn will open its season on the road and play Arkansas at home.
