The New York Mets are keeping a close eye on other top-tier starting pitchers who are available in free agency.

The Texas Rangers are interested in the top of the free-agent pitching market, including Jacob deGrom and Carlos Rodn, according to Jon Morosi.

Over the last two seasons, injuries have limited deGrom. In 11 starts this season, the right-handed pitcher had a 3.08 earned run and 103 strikeouts.
Verlander is the favorite to win the award. After missing all of last year due to Tommy John surgery, he led MLB with a 1.75 earned run average and 0.83 WHIP during the regular season.
He has been a pitcher for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks for 11 years. In NPB games, he has a 2.59 earned run with 1,252 strikeouts and 1,089 hours of work.
The Mets have won 101 games in the last two years, so they are going to be aggressive this year. They lost to the Padres in the playoffs.
