Why Spears still has the Eagles as his NFC favorite (1:11)

After their loss to the Commanders, the Eagles are still the favorites to win the Superbowl. There is a time and a place for this.

Dallas Goedert, an Eagles tight end, is expected to be out for an extended period of time due to a shoulder injury.

A decision hasn't been made as to whether the Eagles will place him on injured reserve, as evaluations are still ongoing that will determine how long Goedert will be out.

He was hurt early in the fourth quarter on a play that involved a controversial non-call.

With the Eagles trailing by two, Hurts passed to Goedert for a first down. Linebacker Jamin Davis grabbed and pulled Goedert's face mask as he tried to tackle him, and a hit by defensive tackle John Ridgeway knocked the ball away. Ridgeway's weight was on top of Goedert as he was driven to the ground. The player returned to the game after being evaluated on the sideline.

Goedert's absence was reported by the NFL Network.

Washington tacked on a field goal after recovering a fumbled ball.

"We didn't see a face mask on the field," Alex Kemp said when asked why there wasn't a face mask call on the Goedert fumbling.

The calls, missed or otherwise, weren't what cost the Eagles the game.

It seems like everything is against you when you play the way we did tonight. We didn't play well. We didn't get the job done. We made our own luck and it wasn't good.

Hurts has a number of options in the passing game. He is second on the team in receiving yards and third in receiving touchdown.

Grant Calcaterra will likely see more playing time in Goedert's absence. It is possible that the Eagles will get Tyree Jackson soon. He was able to practice for 21 days in late October as he works his way back from a tornACL.
