Hi! My name is Isha and I'm the sort of person that spends their nights trawling through YouTube videos.

Recently, I came across a video where Grimes - who is an experimental pop musician and is dating Elon Musk - talks about what she eats during a typical day while pregnant.

Now, Grimes is known for being, well, sort of weird. That's her brand and aesthetic - which I absolutely love - so I wasn't all that surprised when she mentioned eating a whole stick of melted butter and some jam on toast.

But then Grimes mentioned her recipe for a dish she calls "sludge". Yes, SLUDGE. And I was so intrigued - especially since she says it's "weirdly good" - that I decided to recreate it and see what happened.

According to Grimes, her "sludge" recipe is made up of couscous, celery, tomato, spinach, vegenaise and Sriracha sauce. So, the first thing I did was assemble my ingredients and chop up my veggies.

Kind of proud of my chopping skills here, not gonna lie.

Next, I had to make the foundation of the sludge - the couscous! The box I bought said to cook it in a saucepan, but I did it using a bowl, hot water and cling wrap.

After letting it ~steam~ for around 2.5 minutes, I added the celery and tomato, and then covered it again for around 3-ish minutes. This is how it was looking after I added the wilted spinach and gave it a lil stir.

So far, so good! And that's coming from someone who's not a huge fan of celery.

And then it was time to add the vegenaise and Sriracha! In the video, Grimes didn't really specify a certain amount - besides saying a tonne - so I just added what I thought was appropriate.

And voilà, here's the end product, which kind of looks like savoury porridge gone wrong.

And just like that, it was time to taste my weird creation. First impressions? It didn't look too bad - especially when I put it in a fancy bowl.

But then I put a spoonful in my mouth and...it wasn't good.

Like, the taste wasn't horrible - but it was by no means enjoyable. The texture was weird (extremely sludgey, but also sort of crunchy?!) and it smelled kinda funky (probably the vegenaise and Sriracha). Overall, I wasn't a huge fan of it.

But because I'm an Aries and have to succeed at everything I do, I tried adding MORE vegenaise to make it MORE sludgey - because something in my brain told me that Grimes would have made it that way.

And that was...an even bigger mistake, if you can't tell by my reaction to eating a spoonful.

Look, the sludge was not good and I could never see myself enjoying this. It was kind of like eating spicy baby food - and while I don't consider myself a fully-functioning adult, I know I could probably rustle up something a little more appetising than this.

So, in conclusion: Grimes' sludge was not a vibe (duh, I know, but I wanted to try it!). But kudos to her for making a relatively nutritious dish - if you exclude all those globs of vegenaise.

What other strange dishes lurk on the internet? And should I give them a go? Let me know in the comments!

And if you want to watch the full video of Grimes talking about her food habits, here it is.
