The opportunity for card members to earn bonus points and receive perks was introduced in 2020. There is a new perk on one of Chase's most premium cards.
Let's take a closer look at the partnership.
Earn bonus points on Lyft rides with Chase
Chase credit cards can offer bonus points on rides.
You can use your Chase card to pay for rides by adding it to your profile. There is no limit to the number of bonus points you can earn with Chase.
The points are worth 1.7 cents each. I use the Chase Sapphire Reserve for my rides, and I value that at a 17% return on my spending, which is pretty amazing. Thanks to the ability to combine Chase points across accounts, all of the above cards can potentially earn UltimateRewards points that can be transferred to airline and hotel partners.
Receive Lyft Pink with Chase Sapphire Reserve
You can receive a complimentary Lyft Pink All Access membership if you are a member of the Chase Sapphire Reserve.
You can get a 50% discount on the membership cost in the third year if you are a member. The membership needs to be activated by the end of the year.
The two membership tiers are pink and all access. What are the benefits of pink access?
Free Priority pickup upgrades to get picked up faster
Member-exclusive pricing including 10% off all Lux rides
Cancellation forgiveness, cancel up to three times per month for free
In-app roadside assistance for your own car, free up to four times a year
Free Grubhub+ for one year
Free SIXT car rental upgrades
Free, unlimited 45-minute classic bike rides
Free unlimited ebike and scooter unlocks
Discounted ebike and scooter rates
Three bike or scooter guest passes per year
It's easy to sign up for the pink all access membership. You need to make sure that your Chase Reserve is linked to your account.
You can see the menu on the left side of the screen if you click the three horizontal lines at the top left. You can click on the pink thing.
On the next page, you should be prompted to sign up for your membership.
Once you agree to the terms, your membership will be activated and you will be able to use your perks immediately.
This partnership has changed my behavior
There are often questions about how well partnerships work when it comes to influencing consumer behavior. Is it just giving something away to Chase cardmembers for free, and then once that free trial period is over, people return to their old behavior?
I can only speak for myself but this partnership has changed my behavior.
Before the partnership was introduced I almost always used Uber, while now I almost always use Lyft
I’ve just generally found Lyft to be a friendlier platform, I’ve found the pricing to be competitive (and often better), and then you add in the 10x points I’m earning with the Chase Sapphire Reserve
Getting a Lyft Pink membership with the Chase Sapphire Reserve is the icing on the cake, and frankly makes it easier for me to justify holding onto this card
Don’t forget to earn other rewards for your Lyft rides
You can earn bonus rewards with your choice of one of the three programs if you choose to.
Alaska and Lyft have a partnership offering 1x Alaska Mileage Plan miles per dollar spent on US and Canada Lyft rides, with no caps on how many miles you can earn; through December 31, 2022, you can earn 2x Alaska miles on all these rides
Hilton and Lyft have a partnership offering 3x Hilton Honors points per dollar spent on US Lyft private rides, and 2x Hilton Honors points per dollar spent on US Lyft shared rides, on up to $10,000 of spending per year
Delta and Lyft have a partnership offering 2x Delta SkyMiles per dollar spent on US airport rides and 1x Delta SkyMiles per dollar spent on all other US Lyft rides, with no caps on how many miles you can earn
The Alaska partnership is the most lucrative, followed by theHilton partnership and the Delta partnership. You need to use the best credit cards for the rides.
The partnership between Chase and Lyft is still useful. You can earn points for every dollar you spend with the company. Through December 31, 2024, those with the Chase Sapphire Reserve can get a complimentary two year membership to the company. This normally retails for $199 per year, so it can add a bit of value.
Is the partnership with Chase changing your behavior as a driver?
