Users will be able to get online help and order medication for more than 20 health conditions with the launch of Amazon Clinic.

According to the press release, the service is initially available in 32 states in the US.

Users first select their condition, then answer some questions about their symptoms and health history Users may be required to provide a photo ID in order to use the app. Users will be sent a message with a personalized treatment plan after a licensed clinician reviews that data.

In an FAQ for the new service, Amazon says it has strict customer privacy policies in place, as well as being in compliance with other applicable laws and regulations.

Users will be aware of the cost of service at the time of purchase, according to Amazon. Health insurance is not accepted through Amazon's service, though the company says customers can use their insurance for any prescription medication costs that result from their Amazon Clinic visit.

The new platform builds on Amazon Pharmacy, which allows users to get medication delivered to their door, as well as Amazon's acquisition of One Medical for $3.9 billion.

The New York Times reported that Amazon is about to lay off thousands of workers. Employees in Amazon's retail devision, human resources, and team working on Amazon's devices will be affected by the cuts, according to reports.
