The Commanders scored a late touchdown after the Eagles fumbled the ball. There is a time and a place for this.

The Eagles had their perfect record snapped in a wild "Monday Night Football" game against the Commanders, in which a crucial missed call by the refs helped Washington to a 32-21 win.

On a third-and-1 early in the fourth quarter, with the Eagles trailing by two, Jalen Hurts passed to Dallas Goedert for a first down. Linebacker Jamin Davis grabbed and pulled Goedert's facemask as he tried to tackle him, and a hit by defensive tackle John Ridgeway knocked the ball away.

Washington tacked on a field goal to make it a six-point lead. After a 51-yard completion, the Eagles had two more chances to answer but one of them was ruined by a fumbled ball.

Philadelphia became the first team in franchise history to reach the 8-0 mark with a win over the Houston Texans on Thursday but was unable to extend the streak due to a subpar effort from the rush defense.

In the first half alone, Washington rushed for 100 yards on 29 carries, with Philadelphia giving up 100 on 29 carries. In the first half of a game, Philadelphia's 6:11 on possession was the lowest by any team in the last five years.

The Eagles were behind at the half for the first time this season.

Washington was sued by the attorney general in Washington, D.C. and criticized for a statement it made a night earlier that referred to the shooting of Brian Robinson Jr.

Washington coach Ron Rivera said that his players understood. Certain elements can be controlled. That's what happens when you play football. Let's just focus on that more than anything else.

There was a focus on Monday.

Washington was in control of the ball for more than three hours. Both running backs ran for a touchdown. Terry McLaurin had 128 yards receiving for the Commanders.
