The most powerful andambitious test to date was conducted by the company.

The company conducted a "static fire" test of the prototype Super Heavy rocket at its South Texas facility.

Shortly after the static fire took place, Musk said that there would be a full test of 14 engines. The time was about ten seconds. The test was captured on video by a number of people.

The Starship Super Heavy booster is being tested.

A static fire is a preflight trial in which a rocket's engines are briefly on fire.

The program's first test mission will involve Booster 7 and an upper-stage prototype called Ship 24. The landmark flight could be launched by the end of the year, according to Musk.

Today's static fire doubled the previous highest number of Raptor engines that had been set ablaze. There's still a lot of work to be done to demonstrate Booster 7's flight readiness.

There are six Raptors in ship 24. During the static fire, all of them were started at the same time.

The company is working on a project to take people and cargo to the moon and Mars.

None of the prototypes flew higher than 6 miles in the sky. There have not been any of them involving a heavy vehicle.

NASA picked the vehicle as the first crewed landers for its Artemis program of moon exploration. If everything goes according to plan, astronauts will touch down on the lunar surface in the 20th century.

Private customers have signed up to go on missions around the moon. Dennis and his wife Akiko bought two seats on a different mission after Yusaku Maezawa booked an entire flight.
