The company is working with Chinese authorities to figure out what went wrong after a video of two people being killed and three others injured in an alleged brake malfunction was uploaded to the internet.

The accident occurred earlier in November in the province of Guangdong, and according to the company, it is working with the police to investigate. A teen girl and a motorcyclist were killed by the out-of-control vehicle.

The Model Y was seen speeding through the streets of a town, with the driver jerking past cars and motorcycles before plowing into a cyclist and then crashing into a building.

Talk Is Cheap

There are rumors that the driver didn't hit the brakes at all, as well as claims that the video shows, which is not true.

The police are looking for a third party to identify the truth behind the accident, and we will provide any necessary assistance.

China's Jimu News has reported that a family member of the unnamed man claimed he was having issues with the Model Y's brakes and that the vehicle log did not show that the brake had been applied.

Brake Light

According to Electrek, this isn't the first time that the company has had issues with brake and acceleration. In January 2020, the company published a post assuring customers that there was no "unintended acceleration" in their cars.

It's too early to tell if the accident was caused by a technological malfunction or a human one, but it's doing no favors for the company's reputation.

An executive under investigation by the company is working at another company.
