The suspect in a shooting that killed three members of the school's football team is in custody, ending an hours-long search that triggered a campus-wide lock down.

A description of the suspect, a student and former football player, was given at the press conference by the police chief. Longo was told that Jones had been arrested.

Longo said that the suspect was in custody. I need a moment to say thanks.

The current members of the football team were identified by the president as the victims.

A charter bus that had just returned from a field trip was the scene of the shooting. There were two people injured.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for nearly 25,000 people on the school's campus after an emergency alert was sent.

Shortly before the press conference, the shelter-in-place order was lifted. Longo said that after a thorough search authorities were "reasonably confident" that Jones had left the area.

It's not clear why the shooting happened. Jones was flagged by the school's threat assessment team after making a comment about having a gun.

There was no evidence that Jones had a gun on the campus.

Jones is being held on three counts of second degree murder and three counts of using a handgun in the commission of a felony.
