Donaldson was able to celebrate by live streaming his reaction to 100 subscribers.
Every single one of you is appreciated. He said in the live stream that this is all he has ever done with his life. I don't care about anything else. It is the only thing that makes me happy.
Donaldson rose to fame by donating thousands of dollars to small streamers and YouTubers on the video sharing site. He has filmed elaborate contests where fans can win large prizes. He gave away half a million dollars to a fan in a competition inspired by "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and recreated the show "Squid Game" for a competition.
Felix Kjellberg, also known as "PewDiePie", has been active on the platform since 2010 and was initially known for posting gaming content on the platform. He was the first creator to reach 100 million subscribers.
After four months, Kjellberg said he was going to take a break from the platform, and since then, he has posted less frequently. He moved to Japan from his previous home in England and has been sharing updates with fans on his life there.
In August, Kjellberg said he was aware that Donaldson was going to overtake him as the most-subscribed individual YouTuber.
I've been retired for a couple of years now. He said he couldn't wait for it to end.
