With 93 percent of the state's vote counted, the race for Arizona's governor has narrowed to just 1 percentage point for the Democrats.

Five days after the election, the two candidates are separated by thousands of votes. The leader had a lead of about 36,000 votes.

Lake's window for victory seems to be closing despite the gain.

After the latest vote drop Sunday, Dave Wasserman of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report said it was difficult to see how Kari Lake would win.

Lake gained ground in the county with 54 percent of the vote, but it wasn't enough to overcome the gap with Hobbs. Lake needs 58 percent of the votes to win.

Arizona officials say the ballot-counting could last into next week. Most of the uncounted votes are in the state of Arizona.

Lake accused officials of slowing down the process and called Arizona's elections system a "laughingstock"

Lake has cast doubt on the integrity of Arizona's election system and has parroted former President Trump's false claims of election fraud, raising fears that she will refuse to concede even if she loses.
