I spent a night at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables because we are still not living in Miami full time. The World of Hyatt is not the most aspirational points property in the world, but it is still a great place to stay.
A standard room free night redemption costs between 9000 and 15000 points at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables. My stay cost 12,000 points because the hotel was at the standard award pricing. World of Hyatt points are 1.5 cents each.
The perks I receive as a World of Globalist member include free parking on award stays, which adds up. I didn't have to pay in cash when I left the hotel.
The cash rate for the night was $300. Depending on the day of the week and time of year, the hotel can start at as little as $200 per night.
The Hyatt Regency Coral Gables is close to Miami. The city of Coral Gables is to Miami, for example. The hotel is close to many of the restaurants and shops in Coral Gables. It is close to Hillstone Coral Gables.
You shouldn't stay here if you want to go to South Beach or be in Brickell. If you wish to live in the Coral Gables area, you should stay here.
The crowd at the hotel was much better behaved than at other hotels in the area, which was a huge benefit for me. Business meetings, conferences, and weddings were where guests were traveling to. I appreciated that more than what I have seen at other hotels in Miami.
I had driven down this street many times but never realized the Hyatt Regency was on the other side of the street.
The Hyatt Regency charges $30 for self-parking or $35 for valet and the entrance to the parking garage is on the opposite side of the building. The Hyatt Regency does not allow cars over six feet to park.
When you are in the garage, the signs state that the clearance is 6'7", but I swear that's not the case in areas. There were pipes just a few inches over my head in some instances. If you have a large car, that is something to be aware of.
The Hyatt Regency Coral Gables has more personality than most Hyatt Regency properties. The hotel has undergone a full renovation in 2019. There are couches and high-top seating in the hotel's lobby.
The check-in was quick and painless. All the basics were shared by the employee. I was told that I had been upgraded to a premium suite for the purpose of upgrades.
I was given a pamphlet with information about the on- property amenities.
The elevator took me to my room on the sixth floor of the hotel.
There is a premium suite located at the end of the hall on the sixth floor.
The one I was assigned looked nothing like the one on Hyatt's website, so I assumed it was a premium suite. There was a bathroom to the right of the entryway.
The living room came first. There was a chair in the corner of the bedroom.
There was a couch, a chair, a desk, and a second TV in the living area.
The coffee machine and two bottles of water were free for elite members, but would have cost $5 each.
The door to the balcony was unfurnished. There were two chairs and a view of the buildings.
There was a sink, a toilet, and a walk-in shower in the bathroom.
At Hyatt Regency properties, toiletries are usually from Pharmacopia.
I was pleased with the room. The layout was odd, but it was clean, modern and I appreciated getting a proactive suite upgrade at a US property.
The Hyatt Regency Coral Gables has a swimming pool on the fifth floor. There is a large pool with seating and hot tub.
The Hyatt Regency's gym is open all the time. I found the gym to have modern equipment, but also on the small side for a property of this size. I didn't see anyone use it when I visited, but I think this can get busy at times.
The main restaurant at the Hyatt Regency is called Two Sisters. Since there are lots of great restaurants nearby, the restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. When I visited for breakfast, the restaurant wasn't busy.
You can either order a buffet or a la carte. As a Globalist member, either was.
The breakfast buffet had a lot of fresh fruit, yogurt, cold cuts, pastries, and hot dishes.
The coffee I ordered was too acidic for me and I didn't like it.
I ordered a toast with eggs, bacon, and cheese. There was a fruit plate with that.
It was a different take on your toast. The entire amount was removed from my bill at check out.
The Hyatt Regency's lobby coffee bar is open from 7am until 11am on weekdays and until 12pm on weekends. This is a good place to pick up a beverage. I did not get anything while I was here.
The Hyatt Regency has a market next to reception. There was a large selection of food and drink.
The Hyatt Regency's lobby bar is open from 2PM until 12AM. Just across from reception is where it is located. The menu can be found here. This is the closest thing the hotel has to a restaurant that is open for dinner.
The Hyatt Regency Coral Gables worked well for what I was looking for. There is a good breakfast at the hotel.
I wanted to be in the Coral Gables area and this was the perfect place to live. The crowd at the hotel was tamer than in other parts of Miami.
